Current News & Announcements
Missionary updates received this week:
Car Show
We're planning a neighborhood event at our new church location on Saturday, October 11, that will include a car and motorcycle show. If you have a vehicle of interest (car, truck, motorcycle, tractor…) that you would like to display at this event, sign up on the form located near the church mailboxes, or contact Loren Arnoldink or Doug Kamphuis. Flyers are available, under the sign up form, with detailed information.
Community Open-House
Start spreading the word about Immanuel's upcoming community open house! The event takes place on Saturday, October 11, from 5:30-8pm. It's the perfect opportunity to invite that friend, neighbor or coworker to check out Immanuel in a nonthreatening way. This fantastic evening includes: an auto/bike show, the BBOP band, free food, games for children, great prizes and live radio broadcasting. If you desire to help with this outreach in any way (set-up, tear-down, decorations, food, greeting, serving, parking, kids, games, etc.), please contact Marc and Laura Anthony.
Missions '08
"Save the dates" for Immanuel's missions' conference October 26-November 2! Highlights will be Ken Rudolph (10/26), Tuesday home meetings, Pastor Oleg Guzik, from Ukraine (11/2), and much more. (Brochures will be available in late September.)
Small Group Sign Up
It's not too late… we would like everyone to connect with a small group during our transition beginning September 7. If you would like to join a group, please contact the church office.
Ladies' Bible Studies
This fall (October) we will offer several Bible studies for women. Ann Dunham (‘08 retreat speaker) will be teaching from the book of Colossians; Delores Allen and June Goossen will be leading a study from the book "Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World." Watch for more details as to the time of day, dates & location.
Prayer
Please pray daily for these individuals as they are diligently working to complete Immanuel's new building: Bob VandenElst, Jahn deBlecourt, Donna Schaap, Duane Tinholt, the church staff, volunteers (too many to list by name) and the contracted workers.
Sound System
If you are willing to be trained to operate the sound board on Sundays at Immanuel, please contact Russ Miller—Director of Worship as soon as possible.
Coffee & Donuts
On Sundays, September 7 & 21, we'll be serving free coffee & donuts at the Seventh-Day Adventist church in the fellowship area from 9-10am before our 10:15am service begins. The fellowship area is located immediately to the right after you walk through the main entrance.
Church Communication
Until we are moved into our new building (325 104th Ave) we will communicate church-related news on Sundays through the weekly bulletin and on the literature table that will be located in the foyer of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Children in September
During the month of September we are running children's programming during our morning service. As you enter the building, follow the hallway to your left and you will find rooms for children, nursery through 1st grade. We are asking those in 2nd grade and above to join their parents in the main service.
Thank You!
Appreciation is extended to everyone who helped pack, move out and clean our building at 97 W 22nd St.
Bring a broom!
Everyone is welcome to help sweep up the dust at the new building to keep it clean as progress is made. Volunteers of all ages are NEEDED weekly on Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 6-8pm and Wednesday afternoons from 1-3pm. Contact: Al Pittman
Connection Team Training
On Sunday, September 21, at 4pm, we will have a training session for connections team leaders and members at the new church. If you have signed up to be a greeter, host or for traffic, please attend this important training session. If you have any questions contact Jim Winslow, David Wilson or Bob Allen for week 1, Jason Ebels for week 2, Glenn & Elaine Geerts for week 3 or Dave & Wendy Timmerman for week 4.
Connection Team Members Needed
We still have a few spots left. If you have indicated an interest in serving but you have not signed up for your 1 Sunday a month time slot, contact David Wilson. We still have a few openings for greeters, hosts, and traffic.
DIG is starting...
DIG has been our weeknight program for children. With the move from our previous building, this program has been moved to Macedonia Baptist Church at the corner of Pine & 17th. Children from Immanuel are welcome to attend. Call Lucy Kolean for questions or details.
Koster Note
Dear Immanuel family, thank you for the flowers, cards, gifts and most of all the prayers for my husband, Harry, and I through the last years of his life. God's grace is sufficient for all of our needs. Praise Him! 2 Corinthians 12:9 -Janet & family
